Message 3ds Max 5 Export Error
Hi guys,
I have a big question for you.I tried to search the answer for days but nothing.
Which software do I have to use to export cars in RBR?
I tried 3DSMAX 5 with the RBR Exporter but when I launch it after a few seconds appeared an error.

Error: "An error has occurred and the application will now close. No scene changes have occurred since your last save"

Do I have to use ZModeler? Are there any solutions?

Thanks

I never used the RBR exporter plugin even if it's the original plugin created by Warthog to export the cars. Maybe it's related to your windows version ? Max 5 and the plugin were designed for XP so it can be a cause.

You can of course use zmodeler 2 which allows to export to RBR. You'll have to export your files from Max in 3ds format to import them in zmodeler.

I use the plugin created by Warthog.I will try to install 3ds MAX 5 on a XP machine and I will tell you if it works.
If do I export a car with ZModeler I will have to write manually all the .ini?
When I export a car with 3ds Max in .3ds and re-import it with Zmodeler the car it's rotate and the objects' names are truncated. Do I have to rotate the car and rename all the objects?

Thanks

Zmodeler will write the ini. You may have some tweaking to do if you have options for example but that's it. A basic export should work like this.

However you're right, you will probably  have to rotate all parts (very easy) to realign the car with Y axxis I think, and rename all parts with the good RBR name (easy but long to do).

Message Re: 3ds Max 5 Export Error
In these days I solved my export's problem with 3ds max. The issue was the material called "coll" (I think that it's used to calculate collisions) that create an error. To bypass the problem in the composite material I loaded the same texture in the base and in the material#1.
I think it isn't correct what I do because when I export the car I have some errors, but I can load the car in RBR by replacing the impreza03.(Only in the menu not in the stage)

What are the correct textures that  I have to load in the material?

I had an another problem when I loaded the car in RBR and it was that all the suspension's groups(e_wheelgrunk,e_wheelsusp,e_wheelprop...ecc)  were in a wrong position. I don't understand if it is a physics problem because I don't write the .lsp or I have to calibrate all the pivots in the 3D.

Thanks for your support.

I don't remember which materials are needed by the game engine to run a stage with your car.

For the other question (suspension), you have to place the pivots correctly and tweak the physics as well. For the pivot position in the 3D model, help yourself with the original impreza03 that you should have with the 3DS exporter. For the physics, it's more complicated and need a lot of testing.
What is important is to place the parent point in the middle of the rear axxis.

Ok thanks for your answer.
I'll try to move and rotate pivots as well as I can.
Physics I think it is a secondary problem for the moment :)
