Message create wet and muddy track?
Hello,

I got now some experience to create dry tracks.
But I'm searching now on how I can create wet and muddy tarmac tracks.
Who can help me?
Do I need a special Xpack or must I create it on another way?

Regards

Hi,

You can get a physical propertie closed to a wet tarmac by editing the .mat with RBRMaterialEditor ( you can find it inside your BTB's folder installation).
But I don't think it is possible to make some rain falling down.

Can I find somewhere a good tutorial to work with RBRmaterialeditor?
Because it's the first time I'm working with it and I don't understand it.

Dieter

Message Re: create wet and muddy track?
Hello, I found how to work with the RBRmaterialeditor.
But the next problem is that my track looks just the same like in dry weather.
How can I changed that?
Is it possible in BTB or do I need another program?
Is there some guide to do that?

Regards
Dieter

The Rbrmaterialeditor change just the physic of the surface, not how they look in rbr.
You need to edit the texture in photoshop (or another software) to change their look for what you want.

Do I need to use the changed material into BTB or just update in the export folder?

Dieter

The editor allows you to select different surface types and map them to a particular texture.

1. Run the RBR_MaterialEditor.exe
2. (Optional) Click the "Texture" button and select "YourMaterial.dds" file that you intend to map surfaces to.
3. Click the "Edit" checkbox.
4. Choose a material from the right hand side.
5. Click "Fill" to make the whole area that surface material.
6. Select other Materials and paint the texture until satisfied.
7. Click "Save", then enter a filename and dont forget to add the ".ini" extension.
8. Edit the file using a text editor, remove the first 4 lines, then save as "YourMaterial.rbr" and add it to your BobsTrackBuilder\Textures folder alongside your "YourMaterial.dds" file.

With doing this, the look of the texture isn't changed, only the behaviour of the car will change.

To have a different texture, just open the texture you want to modify ( in our case " YourMaterial.dds") with Photoshop or any software which can save in DDS, and change it like you want. Then save it into the Textures folder of your track.

(Do a copy of your original files before ;) )

I haven't time yet to make a short video, maybe tomorrow if it's still needed.

Be careful that Photoshop can't save in DDS without a plugin ( you can find it with google, it's an Nvidia plugin).
If you don't know the dds format, you must know some things like :
file must be a power of 2 ( 32*32,64*64,128*128,256*256,512*512,1024*1024,2048*2048,32*2048 pixels  etc etc etc)
file must be save in DXT1 if you haven't transparency (no alpha channel)
file must be save in DXT3 if you have transparency (alpha channel)
file CAN'T contain any space in the name (use the character _ if you want a space)

Hope that can help ;-) Good luck.

Message Re: create wet and muddy track?
Only 1 question about it.
There is also a mat.ini with the specs from the used textures.
Do I need to change here something?
Because I add a road_tarmac001.rbr but there is also a map road_tarmac001 with specs in the mat.ini
Is it necesarry to delete these lines in the mat.ini?

regards
Dieter

I think that the *.rbr take the priority to the *.mat so you haven't to edit it.
But I think you can modify the .mat if you want (just make a copy ..) to be 100% sure.

Message Re: create wet and muddy track?
Is it possible to test my file?
I don't get the feeling that I'm driving on a wet surface.
I chose for tarmac_fine_covered_wet.
test.7z

Thanks
Dieter

Your mat is dry, replace with a text editor 37 by 39, 105 by 107 and 181 by 183.
