Progress Report:
I'm working on a version for physics development. Rom206 needs things like the doors, bumpers and hood detached from the body for collisions. I want the models of the needed objects to be close to final so physics development can start. After that I will contineu to smaller parts like the mirrors and small tweaks. And then a complet re-map of the body with a new lightmap to match the changes.
This update:
- New rear spoiler (needs tweaking)
- New front bumper air intake
- Removed upper air intake on front bumper
- New hood air intakes (need tweaking, there are a lot of different hoods on the test cars, so reference is hard to find.)
First things to do for next updates:
- New front splitter
- New rear splitter
- New exhaust pipe
- New rear bumper
- Rear spoiler tweaks
- Front bumper tweaks
- Side mirrors
Some serious problems with my computer put me back in progress a lot. The release target is before Rally Monte Carlo 2014, just in time for the real debut of the real car. The real car has changed a lot ao I started an update of the body. I need to make a new unwrap and lightmap after the updat, but I'm going to wait for the complete unwrap and lightmap untill later because the car might change again. After the body update I'm going to make the interior. I already have the dashboard and steering wheel so the seats and the roof and floor are next. But first the body.
This update:
- New front wheel arches
- New rear wheel arches
- 2 front side intakes are now closed
- 2 rear side intakes are now closed
- Changes to mesh around wheel arches
- Changes to rear bumper mesh
- Changes to side skirts
First things to do for next updates:
- 2 new side hood air intakes
- Remove front hood air intake
- Change upper front bumper intake
- New front splitter
- New rear splitter
- New exhaust pipe
- New rear bumper
Finished some tests. The exterior looks good. Now I have to get everything else finished up and then do the interior. (seats, roll cage, inside of doors, etc.)
Vidéo en provenance de : www.youtube.com - First unwrap for complete body mesh. There is a lot of work to do still. both in the mesh and the unwrap.
- Unwrapped and textured head lights.
- Created and baked the body shadow / highlight map.
- Textured body (first version, not done yet).
- fixed a lot of small things in the body.:
- Updated body mesh.
- Updated front bumper mesh.
- Updated side skirt mesh.
- Updated front splitter mesh.
- Updated rear spoiler.
- Updated front side air intakes
- Made alternative texture for tarmac rims.
- Modeled brake disc & caliper.
- Textured brake disc & caliper.
- Modeled Suspension.
- Textured Suspension.
- Textured all radiator grills.
- Modeled underbody.
- Textured underbody. I used a image of another car, so it isn't how the i20 WRC would look like on the bottom, but it hasn't got a high priority.
Done some work on the wheel texture and finished the tire too.
Some small corrections to the dashboard. created all the knobs and the labels on the middle console.
Started with the Tarmac wheel. It's almost finished. I have to do some corrections to the shadowmap and add the logo on the rim. The tire is still a placeholder.
Vidéo en provenance de : www.youtube.com - Corrections to the dashboard.
- Unwrapped the dashboard.
- Textured the dashboard. I disabled all the fancy lighting in 3DS Max. All the illumination and shadows are baked in to the texture
- Modeled knobs for middle console. They are a bit pointy still, need to be a bit rounder, but they have no high priority.
- Small corrections to the Steering wheel
- Textured Quick release Mechanism.
- Textured second Bosch Display that's placed on the right side of the dashboard.
Reference material for cockpit:
- Modeled rough version of dashboard.
- Modeled 'Bosch DDU 7 Motorsport Display'.
- Unwrapped 'Bosch DDU 7 Motorsport Display'.
- Textured 'Bosch DDU 7 Motorsport Display'. I don't really like the led's, but they are there in real. Maybe i can make them look better later.
- Modeled 'OMP VELOCITA' OV SUPERLEGGERO' Steering wheel + Quick release Mechanism.
- Unwrapped 'OMP VELOCITA' OV SUPERLEGGERO' Steering wheel.
- Textured 'OMP VELOCITA' OV SUPERLEGGERO' Steering wheel.
- The quick release mechanism has got a bit of color, but i will give it some shine and shadow in the texture.
I messed around a bit with some textures for the tail lights
- Modeled rear spoiler to replace the placeholder one.
- Made some corrections again to the rear vents. Still not good, but kinda a weird shape. Will get back to them later.
- Fixed gap between door and side skirt. Made the top part of the outside of the door.
- Made some beveled edges between the doors, hood and the body.
- some small corrections on the hood.
There are quite some places to correct. I have found another video which shows the car from some other directions. I find videos where the camera moves around the vehicle way more helpful then some pictures. Pictures are better quality most of the time, but in a video you can see the depth of a lot of parts of the cars. How deep the vents are and so on.
- Small corrections to the shape of the front bumper.
- Very small corrections to headlights.
- Created quick release pins for hood and trunk.
- Corrections to the side skirts. Doors have wrong lines still.
- Place holder tires.
- Placeholder colors for headlights and taillights.
- Lower part of rear bumper and exhaust pipe created
- Corrections to shape of rear bumper. Especially the vents are a bit better.
- Fiddled around a bit more with the headlights.
- Hood vents are changed and look more aggressive.
- Made the hood straight (horizontal) and removed curve at the sides near the head lights.
- Moved the 2 side vents in the front bumper forward a bit.
- Made the side skirts.
- Placed Hyundai logo on the trunk along with the hole thing underneath.
- Created rough vent shapes in rear bumper.
- Created part for license plate in rear bumper.
- Filled empty taillight
Lowered the top part of the lights and the hood. The middle part of the hood is still a bit too high. The headlights are a bit shorter now too and look a bit better. Front spoiler, hood vents and the Hyundai logo are there, but the front spoiler and vents need some corrections. I also made a very simple rear spoiler real quick to give the car a more rally look.
Finished the basic shape of the car. Just the shape without any spoilers / splitters. Maybe I will fix up the shape a bit to make it look better this evening or tomorrow.
Started with the front of the car. Pretty happy for now. Needs a lot of polishing obviously, but I'll finish the basic shape of the body first.
